THE EIGHTH MOUNTAIN | Wayne Drain
THE EIGHTH MOUNTAIN – E. Wayne Drain
“He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind, and who reveals His thoughts to mankind, who turns dawn to darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth—the Lord God almighty is His name.” Amos 4:13 (“God rules from His holy mountain.” Isaiah 11:9)
Three fathers in the faith met in August of 1975.

They all heard the same thing: “There are Seven Mountains of Culture believers must seek to influence: Family, Religion, Media, Education, Business, Entertainment and Government.”

“I feel the church is chasing the wrong things: Power, fame, & greed.”
“I fear the church could lose her voice if she reflects the world rather than the kingdom.”
I FELT A THUD IN MY SPIRIT! I heard, “It’s time for the seven mountains of culture to bow to the eighth mountain—the mountain of the Lord.”
THREE QUESTIONS:
What is the eighth mountain and what is it for?
The mountain of the Lord is above all mountains, the chief mountain. Micah 4:1; Isa. 2:2
Is the eighth mountain biblical? YES!
“In the last days, the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as the highest of all the
mountains; it will be exalted above the hills and all nations will stream to it.” Many people
will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the temple of the God
of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths.” Isa. 2:5
What is the purpose of the eighth mountain?
A two-fold, King\Priest calling given to God’s people.
An upward, priestly ministry to God and an outward, kingdom ministry to people.
HERE’S THE POINT:
Knowing God and communing with Him is our basic stewardship as sons and daughters.
We are transformed on the eighth mountain to become more like Jesus—our high priest.
WHAT I SEE: I am seeing a shift, a call to a new breed of change agent.
Those who know the ways of worship, prayer, and God’s presence.
Those who refuse to rely on human strength, or ingenuity alone.
IT’S TIME TO GO MOUNTAIN CLIMBING! Psalm 24:3-4
“Who may ascend (climb) the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? The one
who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.”
EMBRACE THREE THINGS:
Your upward ministry to God as your first priority.
Your outward ministry to those God has placed in your mountain of influence.
Embrace the reality that God is raising up champions to influence culture—like you.
