Water The City: Givers and Takers
5.12.24
Proverbs 11:24-25 24There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty. 25The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself. NKJV
3 Truths About Generosity
Acts 20:35 35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ NIV
The most blessed way of living is a life of generosity.
Matthew 6:20-21,24 19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. NIV
2) Giving requires vision and an eternal perspective.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. NIV
3) Giving requires an abundance mindset.
What Should Be Our Response

2) Take an inventory of what you can offer to God.
3) Begin to invest into eternal things.
