Tough Issues: Make Time
Why We Stay Too Busy
Gives us a false sense of importance.
2) We feel obligated and we don’t know how to say “no”.
3) Busyness is a way we escape from our pain.
How To Make Time
Acknowledge the unhealthy patterns and slow down.
Mathew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” NIV
2. Shift your focus from urgent things, to the most important things.
Mark 6:30-32 31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” 32 So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.
3. Strategically allocate your time & energy, and guard your schedule.
Psalms 90:10,12 10 Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away…12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
4. Honor the sabbath and learn to have fun.
Leviticus 23:1-3 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘These are my appointed festivals, the appointed festivals of the Lord, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies. 3 “ ‘There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a sabbath to the Lord.
