Practices That Shape Faith

1 Corinthians 4:14-17 I am writing this not to shame you but to warn you as my dear children. 15 Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. 16 Therefore I urge you to imitate me. 17 For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church. NIV

4 Practices To Shape Your Faith

  1. Prayer the Lord’s Prayer daily

Matthew 6:9-13 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.   Praise& worship.

Your kingdom come. God’s presence.

Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. God’s purpose.

Give us this day our daily bread.  God’s provision.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. God’s pardon.

And do not lead us into temptation,  but deliver us from the evil one. God’s protection.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Praise & worship.

NKJV

2.    Serve the vision of the church.

Ephesians 4:11-13  Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. NLT.

3.    Read your bible consistently.

Psalms 19:7-11  The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.  8 The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes…10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward.  NIV.

4.    Start the spiritual discipline of giving.

1 Corinthians 16:1-4 Now about the collection for the Lord’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. 2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. 3 Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem. 4 If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.  NIV
