Seek 2024 - Pastor Mike Popenhagen

Luke 11:11-13 9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.  11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”   NIV

What Is Seek

Seek is 21 days of intentional prayer & fasting.

Goal of Seek

  1. To reawaken our heart towards God.

2.  To minimize life distractions so we hear God more clearly.

The Cost of Not Praying

  1. We risk missing God’s guidance & wisdom.

Joshua 9:14 The Israelites sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the Lord.  NIV

  1. We miss deeper intimacy with God.

Ephesians 1:16-17 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.

Results of Prayer & Fasting

  1. Prayer and fasting amplifies the voice of God.

Ac 13:2–3. 2 One day as these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Appoint Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.” 3 So after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent them on their way.  NLT

2)    Prayer & fasting builds our faith.

Jude 1:20 But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit, staying right at the center of God’s love, keeping your arms open and outstretched, ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life!  MSG

3)   Prayer & fasting intensifies our ability to operate in the supernatural.

Matthew 21:21-22  Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. 22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”  NIV

4)    Prayer & fasting is a catalyst for revival.

2 Chronicles 7:12-16 12 the Lord appeared to him at night and said: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices. 13 “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people,

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. 16 I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there. NIV
