Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
3 Commitments In Raising Confident Children
1. Commit to developing a healthy self-image in each of your children.
Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.
A healthy image means: Kids who are responsible and capable, confident but not cocky, sensitive to the needs of other people but not doormats, always trying to do their best but never getting hung up on perfectionism.
2. Commit to helping your children develop an appetite to grow in their faith.
And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring.
3. Commit to discipline only with love without an expectation of perfectionism.
Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.
Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.
