One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.
6 Ways to Pray:
1. Pray what’s on your heart and mind
1 Peter 5:6-7
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
2. Use the Lord’s Pray as template
So He said to them, “When you pray, say:
Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
5 And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”
3. Pray through a Psalm, making it your own prayer
Psalms to pray:
Ps 23, 46, 51, 91, 139
4. Practice silence and meditation
Blessed is the one… whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.
5. Attempt praying short prayers every 60 minutes
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
6. Pray with others
They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
